Each of these character types contributes its best, or worst, parts to create an unforgettable whole. Frye points out that, ââ¬Å"We know very little about the contemporary reception of Shakespeareââ¬â¢s plays, but one of the things we do know is that Falstaff was exactly the same kind of popular favorite that he is now, and for exactly the same reasonsâ⬠(271). Shakespeare has used some of these character types in the past, most notably the Vice. In Richard III Shakespeare uses the Vice to great extent in creating his fictio nal composite of the historical King. The same skill in grafting fictional qualities onto historical characters comes into play again with Falstaff and is the main reason why Falstaff remains such an enduring icon of drama. The medieval vice character is the descendant of The Vice, an archetypal villain who represented the seven deadly sins in the allegorical English morality plays. Though the Vice spreads dissent and disdain for law and order he is usually portrayed as a comic trickster rather than a purely evil force. The Vice is distinguishable from other villains in that he uses his skill with words to achieve his goals through trickery and confusion. Falstaff, long a fan favorite character from all of Shakespeareââ¬â¢s plays, clearly fits the description of amusing, witty, and sinful. His fat figure attests to his gluttony and sloth, his frequ enting the tavern proves his weakness for lust, and his thievery and bragging stem from his avarice and pride. Critics like Withington have long taken note of this saying, ââ¬Å"Beneath the individuality which makes Falstaff such a lovable figure, critics have found gluttony, lechery, and other deadly sins, together with traces of the parasiteâ⬠(743). Indeed the Prince himself, role-playing his father the King, accuses Falstaff of being the Vice: ââ¬Å"Why dost though converse with that trunk of humorsâ⬠¦that reverend Vice, that gray Iniquityâ⬠(2.4.443-448). Falstaff also subverts those around him, dragging down Prince Hal from his royal pedestal and further corrupting Bardolph and Nym. Though Hal has the good sense and keen wit to escape Falstaffââ¬â¢s influence, Bardolph and Nym are not so bright and end up hanged for looting. Sir Johnââ¬â¢s corrupting influence, barbed tongue, and sympathy with the audience all tie into the traditional role of the V ice character. The picaro is a type of renaissance rouge, a believer in counter culture who has no personal or societal ties. The picaro is often depicted as a nomad, moving often and following a shifting trail of opportunity. What he finds he quickly consumes before moving on, never focusing on the future or by extension the accumulation of wealth or power. The picaro is a survivalist. Falstaff easily fits this description as well. Having no career, no ambition, and no home but the tavern he survives by riding the coattails of Prince Hal. Rothschild notes that, ââ¬Å"Falstaffââ¬â¢s life on this social fringe is marked by a chronic impecuniosity, which he relieves mainly with his witâ⬠(18). When war comes he adjusts and takes advantage of the situation to squander the armyââ¬â¢s money. With the possible exception of the Prince and his drinking companions Falstaff has no sympathy for the plights of men and sees others solely as exploitable resources. He audib ly voices his disdain for ideals and values in his ââ¬Å"what is honorâ⬠soliloquy. The attitude he expresses in this speech lends further credence to the argument that at least part of his personality is rooted in the renaissance picaresque tradition. The Miles Gloriosus, or braggart soldier, is a classical Roman and Greek stock character of drama whose main trait is his overreaching braggadocio which contrasts with his underperformance or cowardice in battle to much comic effect. Grady summarizes this aspect of Falstaffââ¬â¢s nature by writing: ââ¬Å"Falstaff is also an embodiment of the destructive egoism that is one of modern subjectivityââ¬â¢s most prominent potential outcomesâ⬠(613). Falstaff plays this role in a plethora of situations throughout the play. When he tells Prince Hal about the robbers he fought off the number steadily increases each time he opens his mouth. The same thing happens later in the battle scenes, when Falstaff boasts of his conq uest over Hotspur, despite having played dead on the battlefield to avoid risking his life in combat. This act in particular shows characteristics of not only the braggart but the picaro and the parasite as well. Falstaff does no fighting, claims he fought valiantly, saps off Prince Halââ¬â¢s valor by claiming he killed Hotspur, and uses the unearned honor to further his own survival. The Plautine Parasite is a character based on the idle poor of republican Rome who eked out a living by attaching themselves to the idle rich. They led lives of frivolous amusement and degenerate luxuriate through flattery, oftentimes suffering the butt end of a joke with nary but a smile. Similarly, Falstaff leeches off of not only Prince Hal but the hostess of the Tavern as well, suffering rebukes and insults and responding only with witticisms and smiles. An entire scene is devoted to Prince Halââ¬â¢s participation in a robbery for the sole purpose of humiliating Falstaff by catching him in a lie. Falstaff waxes increasingly lyrical on food and wine, the only interests of the parasite. Draper argues that ââ¬Å"Falstaff, indeed, is no respecter of his social inferiors, his equals, or his betters: he seems to respect only those who may provide his dinner and only when they do itâ⬠(396-397). The fool, finally, is a kind of court jester or wise idiot who, though seemingly crazy, helps other characters realize the truth behind the actions or events that occur around them. Royalty often employed professional fools for both amusement and advice giving, with the main requirement being a razor sharp wit and the tenacity to use it. Falstaff can be seen as Prince Halââ¬â¢s fool, as Hal derives amusement and companionship from him and sustains him in his erratic behavior in return. Gus Van Santââ¬â¢s My Own Private Idaho portrays the Falstaff character as a wandering homeless man who dispenses advice and wisdom to the children of the streets. Sir John possesse s an epic wit and is not afraid to use it. Falstaffââ¬â¢s battlefield speech about the nature and worthlessness of honor cuts to the heart of the matter in a way that only a fool can. Shakespeareââ¬â¢s use of stock characters and archetypal personalities advances in leaps and bounds when comparing Richard III to Sir John Falstaff. Richard III was a Vice character through and through. Though Shakespeare was very effective in creating Richard in the form of the Vice he pulls off an even more impressive feat with Falstaff. In Sir John he successfully integrates the Vice and at least four other characters into one stunning amalgamation of personality. Falstaff is a much more nuanced and rounded character than Richard. SAT Reading Comprehension Specific Line Reference
The next Reading Comprehension question type is also the most common question type. Introducing: Line reference question. Okay, there is some irony here ââ¬â thereââ¬â¢s no line reference but an xx (no, donââ¬â¢t get the wrong idea). For the blog critical reading passage I didnââ¬â¢t have the nifty little program that allowed me to insert lines a la College Board, the writers of the SAT. You will get the actual line on the test. The strategies are as follows: Do NOT just read the line. Read one sentence before the line reference and, if necessary, one sentence after. The reason for the ââ¬Å"if necessary.â⬠That is if there is enough information in the sentence above the line reference sentence and the line reference sentence itself, then there is no need to read a sentence below. Often the answer is contained in the line reference sentence ââ¬â and it is rarely contained in the sentence above the line reference. Nonetheless, do not become slack by not read the preceding sentence. The key here is context. You should always familiarize yourself with the context. And reading the line before the referenced line is the best way to do have a sense of context. Anyhow, for this post, I will provide the part of the text necessary for you to answer the question. So he has to be more aware of how he assimilates; if he doesnââ¬â¢t assimilate, then he knows in his time as a ââ¬Å"Yalieâ⬠he will never belong.

The anarchist on the other hand really wants to a statement about the matter of environmentalism and thus wants to implement this part to help the environment. Therefore, it can be said that the advertising and promotional strategies should be such that it needs to impact all the three categories of consumers. The promotions should induce the consumers to understand the need to use these products and it is necessary to save our environment for the present and the future generations. The promotional and the advertising campaigns also needs to point out the essential eco-friendly features of the product or service and therefore it can be helpful for the consumers to understand its benefits and thus they get motivated to purchase them (Boztepe, 2016). Consumers Response to Advertising This section of the study helps to find out the responsiveness of the advertisements to the consumers. The reaction of the consumers is crucial to find out the effectiveness of the advertisements, which acts a platform for understanding the effect of green advertising. The modern society that constantly consumes the advertisements from the media has different impact on the consumers in different ways. The response of the consumers can either be influenced by the individual preferences and motives or by collective motives. These motives thus, shape the insight of the consumers through advertising. The response of the consumers towards an advertisement will directly influence either negatively or positively towards the perception of the brand and product purchase. The consumers will have a positive attitude towards the behavior of the advertising if they find that such a product will have a positive outcome (Ankit Mayur, 2013). Therefore, the advertisements created should be with the theory in mind not only to change the behaviors themselves and also the beliefs that will change the behavior and drive an effective purchase. Conclusion and Research Objective Conclusion This study is undertaken to evaluate the meaning of green marketing and the combination of 4Ps of green marketing combining its challenges. The study also determines the effect of advertisements and the responsiveness of the consumers towards these advertisements. The study primarily looks into the matter of green marketing and why is it necessary in the modern world. It also helps to evaluate the origin of green marketing and the reason why green marketing has gained so much importance globally. Green marketing also tries to identify how the implementation of these strategies will be useful to the society as a whole. The wrongdoings of the firms by misrepresenting their products as eco-friendly are also discussed. The current advertisement motive is to appeal the personal values and providing consumer empowerment and therefore, it is the right time to implement the eco-friendly awareness into the marketing mix thereby, solving the problems the world faces. The process of green marketing can thus produce highly effective results if it is used properly and with integrity. Research Objective The objective of the study is to analyze the response of the consumers and encourage them to purchase eco-friendly products. The study also reveals the effect of advertisement and the effect of a proper promotional campaign and advertisement in generating awareness in the minds of the consumers. It is therefore, found out that the green marketing is still in its early stage and thus requires a lot of research over the environment friendly marketing by eliminating green washing and other challenges faced by green marketing. A Yogi must first lose themselves here to find peace with themselves(Smith, 11). The armor that a person has built around themselves throughout their livesmust be lost and they have to see themselves clearly (Smith, 19). Meditation begins with concentration (Meditation). In concentration meditation aYogi must focus all their energy onto one thing. Such as an object (a candle flame), asensation (something felt while walking), or an emotion (love) (Chakras andMeditation). At first it might be hard to keep mind focused on one object. A personmust train themselves to concentrate. Narrow the mind on to one category of objects. Then focus onto one of the objects. When the mind begins to wonder, go to anotherobject in the category. When it becomes easy to focus on one object for a long time then aYogi is ready to move on to concentrate on one single object (Lidell, 94). Chakra meditation falls under concentration meditation. There are seven majorchakras along the spin. They start at the base of the spine and go up to the top of the head. The seven major chakras are connected by three major nadies. Sushumna, the middlenadi, has neutral characteristics. Nearest your left hand is the ida nadi. It has yincharacteristics. The third nearest your right hand is pingala nadi. It has yang qualities(Chakras and Meditation). Through these nadis the chakras are connected and energypasses from one to another. Each chakra is said to be an energy transformer (Chakras and Meditation). When a chakra is activated or meditated on, it releases a unique type of energy. Thisenergy is measurable and immeasurable. The measurable energy is electromagnetic energyand light photons. The immeasurable energy is called prana. Prana is the vital, essentialenergy of the universe (Smith, 231-233). The chakras are the centers in the body werethis energy is activated and stored (Smith, 231-233). For the chakras to be activated properly it depends on the sitting position. Duringmeditation a Yogi should sit Indian style, with their legs crossed. One heel should be infront of the pelvis bone and the other in front of the first heel. The knees spread as farapart as possible and rested on the floor. This sitting position will provide a stable base. The neck and spine will be straight. Breathing will also be easier because the chest cavity isopen. This will also help with concentrating and will promote clearer thinking (Smith,224-225). Chakra meditation is very simple and easy to do. A yogi simply concentrates oneach chakra starting with the root chakra traveling up the shushumna and activating thenext higher chakra (Chakra and Meditation). It may take weeks or months to move fromone chakra to the next. It is a very long process. The seven main chakras are muladhara, swadishthana, manipura, anahata,vishuddha, ajnal and sahasrara. The chakras are located along the ethereal counterpart ofthe spinal cord and cannot be seen through normal vision (Smith, 231-233). To bring thebody to a state of rest a Yogi must focus their attention to the processes of breathing, theheartbeat, and the flow of electromagnetic energy. Then the prana will begin to move upthe Sushumna awakening the higher chakras. This awakening must start with the first chakra muladhara. This is the root or basechakra. It is located at the base of the spine (Chakras and Meditation). Each chakra isthought of as a lotus flower that has a color and a number of petals. This chakra is ayellow lotus with four petals. The main element of this chakra is the earth and survival(Lidell, 71). This chakra deals with the survival of ones self. Ajna the sixth chakra is the frontal chakra. This chakra is known as the third eye. It is between and slightly above the eyebrows (Chakras and meditation). This lotus iswhite with two petals. This is the seat of the mind (Lidell, 71). Ajna is the center of pure intelligence. This is were a Yogi understands all of thelower levels of reality at once. Here is were the full picture of reality is seen. This is donewith the third eye. This eye is thought of as an organ of perception. It gives off a beam oflight . This beam cannot be seen or measured except by another with the third eye. Thiseye gives the person the power to see qualities behind appearances. Also here the separations and boundaries that have been constructed by man areseen as illusionary (Smith, 237). A cosmic stream of intelligence and understanding arebrought into notice and it is realized that everyone is in an ocean moving together (Smith,237). To find out what this ocean is the next level must be activated. Sahasrara is the seventh and final chakra. It is the crown chakra and is located onthe top of the head (Chakras and Meditation). This is the thousand petal lotus. Thislotus has no color of its own. This chakra corresponds to absoluteness. This is were aYogi attains samadhi or superconciousness (Lidell, 71). The goal of a Yogi duringmeditation is to gain this superconciousness. Sahasrara is the center of pure spirit. The question Who am I? is answeredthrough the crown chakra as: I am a wave of infinite bliss (Smith, 237-238). To a Yogino further explanation is desired or needed. Added by this chakra is the feeling of eternal peace. This is the end of the soulsquest but the beginning of a new mission. This is when a Yogi will start to help othersouls seeking the light of truth. To do this they have to go below the seventh chakra, butno lower than the fourth chakra. The duty in sewing others is to communicate with themat their highest level of understanding, not your own. We must speak the language that isunderstood by others (Smith, 237-238). Meditation in the higher stages allows a person to view life from an advantagepoint. In these higher stages life is viewed as unified and perfect. To most people lifeappears disorganized and imperfect. Throughout the day everybody passes in and out ofdifferent chakra levels. Most people have a chakra center that they reside in most oftenduring the day. Most people spend their lives in the first, second and third chakra levels.
